Did i actually forget to ever mention the breath? It's everything. Lets talk about vipassana and zazen meditations too

The breath is your anchor... Albeit an anchor which isn't anchored since it keeps moving up and down... And so is life.

Out of 112 ways to get enlightenment... 20 to 25 of them use the breath directly.. i had to fact check this.

As sadhguru put it... If you master the breath you become an amphibious creature... One that can stay in the water but get out when it wants to.

I cannot overemphasize the importance of the breath, its relation to mind, body and even energy... Energy comes in with the breath.. its not the air.. as you inhale you draw in energy. And it is totally hackable and you can separate both air intake from energy intake.. although i have not mastered it. But lets say im pretty good.

The rate of breaths you take determines  the speed of your life... Meaning how long you live. The yogis who live forever simply don't breathe... They do.. but not air.. they managed to take in energy without air that damages the body over time. Yes oxygen causes aging. Look it up its called oxidisation in chemistry. The oxygen itself doesn't kill you. But it's usage in the body does.

Anyway we can learn not to breathe later

So lets talk about two core Buddhist meditations.

The buddha gave us Vipassana...(Clear seeing)

In both meditations you anchor the mind on the breath... In vipassana Without effort you stay there with the breath going up and down with it. You may lose attention... Its okay it will come back and you go back to where you left off... You may have intrusive thoughts... That's good. Watch them that's the whole point of clear seeing. BUT... Watch without judging them or yourself. Try to stay with the breath while taking in all the input from your senses and mind and emotions... Feel the richness of your human experience. No judging the experience..

Now zazen is also Buddhist from the zen branch. Easier... Just stay with the breath. While sitting preferably i would say in lotus position... Don't worry too much now about how you place your legs.. just be comfortable and seated with an upright spine.
